John Wright, an aged and wealthy man of Barrington, Yates Co., died 25 Jan 1858. Rumor spread that he had been poisoned, and after an investigation, Baxter Kinne was arrested. He was the husband of Wright's youngest daughter. The principle witnesses against Kinne are Erasmus Wright, son of the deceased, Charles Swarthout, his brother-in-law, and Mrs. Merrit, a daughter. He had been fed porridge, and given water by Kinne, that was found to contain strychnine. Further test on the organs of Mr. Wright are to be conducted. - 11 Mar 1858
